Some feats of strength and endurance that I'm proud of are: I climbed a rope for the first time at the age of 43.  I can consistently complete double-unders in a WOD. Completed Murph for the first time. Overcoming my fear of being inverted and doing wall walks. My biggest accomplishment is that I am a lifelong learner and I am constantly learning new skills that I never thought were possible for me!

About Coach

For as long as I can remember, I've been involved in some kind of sport. Growing up, I have wonderful memories of competing in soccer, tennis, baton twirling, softball, and basketball. I even played basketball in college for a few years. In my late 30s, I fell in love with running. Since I have always been a competitor, I couldn't just do it for fun. I competed in several 5K's, 10K's, and even a half marathon. I am a teacher, so I have always had a passion for helping others learn new things. I have coached basketball for the last 11 years at several different levels. From youth league, middle school girls, JV and Varsity high school girls, and most recently AAU travel girls basketball. After being introduced to CrossFit 3 years ago, I instantly fell in love! I had lifted weights before and had a pretty decent foundation. The endurance part came easy for me with my background in running. I even got the nickname, "the cardio queen". The gymnastics threw me for a curve though. My weaknesses were exposed pretty quickly, but oddly enough, that has been a huge motivating factor for me!

Turning Point

I have always had pretty good success when it comes to athletics. I was never cut from a team. I was always a starter and for the most part, a stand-out athlete. I'm definitely not saying this to brag! When I started CrossFit, I was terrified! It was new, it involved pull-ups for goodness sakes! I lifted weights growing up, but I'm 45 now, I was too old for this! Or so I thought. After 3 years of just showing up, every single day, and challenging myself, I am stronger and healthier than I have ever been. Just like everyone else, I am busy. I have 3 kids who are involved in every activity and sport that you can imagine. I have to be in 5 different places at one time every single day, run a household, work full time, and somehow keep 3 other humans alive. My self-care was put last. I always felt selfish and extreme guilt for wanting anything for myself. Taking time away from my family was not an option. After I had my 3rd child, at the age of 42, I decided that I needed to make a change. I had a 2-year-old and I was struggling to keep up with him! Eating mac and cheese and chicken nuggets with my kids wasn't helping me either. I needed energy! After some "strongly encouraging" and a challenge from a friend, I went to an introduction class at CF256. I walked in terrified but left excited (and still a little terrified). I found a way to make it work, no excuses! I work out every weekday morning at 5:00 a.m. Crazy, I know! I quit making excuses like, "that's too early" or "I can't function that early". I wanted it more than my excuses. The absolute best part about my journey is that my children are actually proud of me! They want to hear about how I do on WODs, they even come work out with me. Motivating my family to become healthy and active, is worth it all.

Motivation & Passion

My purpose for coaching is to inspire and help you reach your full potential, no matter what age, shape, or size. Life happens and we all have excuses, but if you want it bad enough, I want to help! This is not a journey I could have taken on my own. We all need support and a community of people with similar goals. We may not all want to compete in the Games, but if living a healthy, active lifestyle is your goal, then I want to help you!
